For those who would like to start swimming at Haileybury Sports Complex we will be enrolling for the swimming lessons starting in January 2009 on 8th December 2008. Please call Cara Craven - the Swimming Programmes Co - ordinator directly on 01992 706429 on this date.
Rookie Lifeguard
January 2009 sees the introduction of the new revised Rookie Lifeguard course.
Rookie Lifeguard is for all who are interested in swimming, lifesaving and lifeguarding; aimed at children aged 8 - 12/13, who wish to learn the Rookie Lifeguard through swimming classes.
As a rookie you will learn special lifesaving skills to help you save yourself and know what to do if others get into difficulty in the water. You will also learn what to do if someone stops breathing. The awards contain survival, rescue and sports skills as well as lifesupport and water safety elements so they are great fun to do.
The Rookie programme is divided into three stages; bronze, silver and gold. At each stage there are three badges and there are also lots of special badges you can work towards.
As there is so much to learn in this course, it will run for
1hour & 30mins. The course commences on Sunday 11th January.
